TheSchoolof Chemistry and Chemical EngineeringofJiangxi University of Science and Technology originated from the Basic Chemistry Department established at the beginning of the school in 1958. In 1994, the Department of Chemical Engineering was established, and in 1995, the specialty of Fine Chemical Engineering (specialty) was opened. In 1996, the undergraduate major of Chemical Engineering and Technology began to enroll students. In 2001, the Department of Chemical Engineering was merged into theSchoolof Materials and Chemical Engineering. In 2011, it was transferred to the School of Metallurgy and Chemical Engineering. In March 2019, the school carried out the reform of the academic department system, and theSchoolof Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology was formally established.

The faculty of theSchoolis strong, with a team of teachers who have strong research capabilities, high teaching level, and a reasonable structure in terms of academic degree, professional title, and age. There are currently 60 faculty members, including 14 professors, 16 associate professors, 48 with doctoral degrees, 9Ph.Dsupervisors, 35 master supervisors, and 7 part-time teachers from other universities who are national high-level talents. TheSchoolcurrently offers two undergraduate majors, Chemical Engineering and Technology and Applied Chemistry. It has two first-level master's degree programs (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Technology), one master's professional degree category (Chemical Engineering, belonging to the field of Materials and Chemical Engineering), and one second-level science master's degree program (Environmental Engineering). It also carries outPh.Deducation based on the first-level doctoral degree program in Metallurgical Engineering. Theschoolhas trained a large number of outstanding talents who are praised as "honest, solid foundation, practical work" for the chemical and non-ferrous metals industries. In 2022, the Chemical Engineering and Technology major and Applied Chemistry major were selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites. The Chemical Engineering and Technology major ranked first in Jiangxi Province in 2021, was selected as a five-star professional in Jiangxi Province, was rated as a first-class and superior professional in Jiangxi Province, passed the Ministry of Education's engineering education professional certification in 2023, and ranked B+ (87th) in the "2023 Soft Science China University Professional Ranking"; The Applied Chemistry major is a first-class professional in Jiangxi Province and was selected as a four-star professional in Jiangxi Province. The chemical discipline, material discipline, and engineering discipline supported by the college have all entered the ESI 1% discipline, and the chemical engineering and technology obtained C- in the fifth round of subject evaluation.

The teaching conditions in theschoolare excellent, and the construction of first-class courses has achieved fruitful results. It possesses a national-level experimental teaching demonstration center for chemicalengineering andmetallurgy, as well as a provincial-level experimental center for chemistry and chemical engineering. The college also has a Jiangxi provincial teaching team for applied chemistry, a Jiangxi high-level undergraduate teaching team for functional materials chemistry, a Jiangxi provincial model innovation team for postgraduate tutors in rare earth molecular materials chemistry, and a Jiangxi provincial base for training top-notch students in basic disciplines of rare earth chemistry.Higher Reaction Engineering is a Jiangxi provincial curriculum ideological and political education demonstration course, Reaction Engineering is a Jiangxi provincial academic degree quality course, Chemical Engineering Principle B is a Jiangxi provincial online and offline mixed first-class course, Chemical Engineering Principle is a Jiangxi provincial online first-class course, Reaction Engineering is a Jiangxi provincial offline first-class course, and Rare Earth Catalyzed Ethanol Hydrogenation Virtual Simulation Project is a Jiangxi provincial virtual simulation first-class course. In addition, Chemical Engineering Principle and Reaction Engineering A are Jiangxi provincial university education sharing programs courses, Fine Organic Synthesis Chemistry and Technology are provincial-level quality online open courses, Environmental Engineering Chemistry, Advanced Organic Chemistry, and Green Chemistry are key projects for national Master of Engineering professional degree graduate education online courses, and Environmental Engineering Chemistry and Advanced Organic Chemistry are Jiangxi provincial academic degree quality courses.

Based on the high-levelscientific research platform and facilities,the school has gainedfruitful teaching and research achievements. It possesses national rare earth functional material innovation center, national ion-type rare earth resource efficient development and utilization engineering research center, rare earth provincial-ministerial collaborative innovation center of the Ministry of Education, ion-type rare earth resource development and application key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, tungsten resource efficient development and application technology engineering research center of the Ministry of Education, national tungsten and rare earth product quality supervision and inspection center and other national-level research platforms, as well as more than ten provincial-level research platforms such as Jiangxi Province Key Laboratory of Functional Molecular Material Chemistry. It has more than 60 large instruments worth over 50 million yuan and a teaching and research laboratory with a building area of 15,000 square meters. In the past five years, the college has successively won one second prize for national teaching achievements, four provincial teaching achievement awards, published more than 10 textbooks. It has undertaken more than 100 national and provincial projects, with a total research funding of over 20 million yuan, 60 horizontal projects with a total funding of over 30 million yuan, won three first prizes, four second prizes and four third prizes at the provincial level, published 10 academic monographs, and published more than 200 papers. Over 160 papers have been included in SCI and EI, and more than 10 papers have been highly cited.

Theschoolcurrently has nearly 800 undergraduate students, more than 160 master's degree students, and over 20 doctoral students. In recent years, the average annual employment rate has reached over 95%, with more than 60% of the students being employed by well-known domestic large enterprises. The college's postgraduate entrance examination acceptance rate is as high as 50% or more, with many students being admitted to "double first-class" construction universities such as the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jilin University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Beijing Normal University, Huazhong Normal University, and East China University of Science and Technology.
